About us
ResFrac is used by 35+ leading E&P companies
Built on science-based decision-making
Operators are engaged in a process of continuous improvement – with a relentless focus on maximizing free cash flow. We apply cutting-edge technology and a rigorous workflow to accelerate the improvement cycle.
A highly regarded colleague once said: “We reserve the right to get smarter.” Our commitment is to embody this spirit to the best of our ability – whether that means continually evolving our software and implementing the latest findings from academia and literature, or approaching a collaboration with scientific curiosity and excitement.
Recent projects such as HFTS1, HFTS2, the ConocoPhillips core-through in the Eagle Ford, and MSEEL have transformed the industry’s understanding of shale fracturing, challenging conventional wisdom and unlocking new opportunities. Downhole data collection has never been better. Fiber in injection and offset wells, downhole imaging, sealed pressure monitoring, pressure observation wells, among many others, are giving us an unprecedented look at subsurface processes in shale. By working with a diversity of companies across all major shale plays, we’ve built a broad perspective and understand the commonalities and differences. This deep understanding – rooted in the groundbreaking work happening in the industry – enables subsurface engineering to be performed more accurately and drive more value than ever before.
Collaboration
We are fortunate to work with some of the most outstanding people in our industry, and with some of the most innovative companies. We work together to advance the science, while keeping the focus on solving practical problems that impact the bottom line.
Continuous improvement
Everyone at ResFrac brings a growth mindset to their work, helping operators and the broader community solve problems and improve operational efficiencies. We apply that growth mindset to ourselves, our company, our clients, and the profession as a whole.
Making a tangible impact
We believe in the dignity of an honest, hard day’s work. Every day, we strive to make a positive impact on our little corner of the world.

Advanced ‘proppant transport in the well’ capabilities are now implemented in ResFrac!
Proppant transport in the well is an intriguing topic that has attracted a lot of interest in recent years [1-8]. Proppant transport processes determine the uniformity of proppant placement, which has a direct impact on productivity. Cipolla et al. estimate that the difference between poor and excellent proppant uniformity is about $2.5M in net present value per well.
Digesting the Bonkers, Incredible, Off-the-Charts, Spectacular Results from the Fervo and FORGE Enhanced Geothermal Projects
I’m out of superlatives – I used them all up in the title. But seriously – Enhanced Geothermal System (EGS) projects have had a really, really good summer. In this article, I summarize the results that have been recently presented by Fervo and FORGE. At their annual Tech Day and in a white paper posted this week (Norbeck et al., 2024), Fervo Energy provided their first update on Project Cape, a Utah project where they are developing 400 MWe of new production over the next two years. So far, fourteen wells have been drilled, and three of them have been stimulated.
What ‘company culture’ means to us
We recently held our annual company retreat. This is an important event because we are a fully remote company, and it gives us the chance to get together in-person and spend quality time. This year, we did the retreat in Houston, following URTeC and our annual symposium. We visited Space Center Houston, went to an Astros game, and ate BBQ and Tex-Mex. As a Houston native, I picked some of my favorite things to do in town! We also held a meeting on ‘company culture.’ I asked the group – how do you perceive our company culture? What do we do well, and what could we do better? Here are the highlights.
