For March Office Hours, we had a a presentation from ResFrac Chief Scientist Egor Dontsov, titled, “Horizontal hydraulic fractures in ResFrac”. Horizontal hydraulic fractures are becoming harder to ignore, as more indisputable field evidence supports their existence. This is why we at ResFrac have developed the capability to model such a phenomenon. This presentation discusses conditions that lead to the formation of horizontal fractures, available field evidence, and potential implications to reservoir stimulation. Specifics of simulating horizontal hydraulic fractures in ResFrac were also covered.
